About Us
You never noticed that sun spot until your best friend (or so you thought) pointed it out. Now you can’t stop looking at it. At ClarityMD, our highly trained staff is here to help with any of your skin fitness needs.
Dr. Corea and Dr. Harper started ClarityMD to address aging, sun-damaged skin, as well as other skin conditions that tend to define who you are and how you feel about yourself. The physicians at ClarityMD are both internal medicine physicians and leaders in their medical fields, but are also passionate about helping patients feel great about themselves… to look as young as they feel.
ClarityMD is distinct from other medical aesthetic practices, which are usually either within pre-existing plastic surgery or dermatology practices or are national chain medical spas. The staff at ClarityMD understands how important it is to listen to each individual patient’s concerns and provides each patient with customized skincare treatments based on those needs. Dr. Harper and Dr. Corea are not only medical directors but also the procedural specialists. They are intimately involved and perform all major procedures themselves, such as Botox and Fillers, the Pearl and Pearl Fractional.
The Coolglide Difference:
As the name implies, the Coolglide handpeice cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. By utilizing this system, permanent reduction of unwanted facial and body hair is possible and safe on all skin tones (including tanned skin). No more painful waxing, electrolysis or razors! Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling technology allow for extremely effective, safe and permanent results. It allows us to comfortably treat large areas without the limitations of older technologies.
What areas can be treated with CoolGlide systems?
The CoolGlide can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line.
What do CoolGlide laser treatments feel like?
As the name implies, the CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, however some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require 3-6 treatments, but the number of CoolGlide treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on various factors such as your hair's thickness, the area treated, and your hair's growth cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, but actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. CoolGlide systems work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following your Coolglide the area may appear a bit red and swollen, which is an appropriate reaction. The CoolGlide’s cooling mechanism protects your skin through the treatment. Some hair will fall out immediately while the rest will shed over the course of about a week. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.
Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away. However, since some redness may occur, you may want to plan your work or social engagements accordingly. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
How does CoolGlide compare with Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, CoolGlide effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take hours with electrolysis.
