Solutions was designed by Craig E. Hanson, MD, FACOG and his wife Rachelle to provide their patients with State-of-the-Art corrective treatments for the skin. LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Solutions Skincare & Laser Center uses the Alma Harmony Platform to treat unwanted hair. Although results of all permanent hair reduction systems vary by individual this system allows the technician ultimate flexibility to choose from multiple heads, that utilizes different wavelengths, to obtain optimal results. The Alma Harmony Platform also allows for true Laser Hair Removal thus greatly increasing successful removal even with the patient with stubborn or resistant hair.

How Does the Laser Procedure Work?
The Alma Harmony Laser Platform allows for true laser hair removal, greatly increasing successful removal even for patients with stubborn or resistant hair. During Treatment, a large rectangular area of a targeted frequency of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is applied to the surface of the skin. The energy travels harmlessly through the skin until it hits the hair follicle. The melanin (pigment) in the hair absorbs the light and briefly spikes in temperature, destroying the hair-producing cells surrounding the follicle. Since the heat is not sustained, no damage occurs outside the follicle area. The hair will appear lighter and less noticeable after each and every treatment.

What If I Have Light Hair with Little to No Pigment?
Light hair is usually not a good candidate for laser hair removal; but, Solutions has found a way around it. A pre-treatment called "Meladine" has provided good results for our patients. It comes in a spray form and deposits a melanin type substance into the hair folicle. This form of melanin; however, is not visible. The Meladine attracts the freqency of light necessary to destroy the hair follicle without having the pigment, in other words, its sort of tricking the laser.

What Does the Treatment Feel Like?
Lasers give a relatively pain-free solution to unwanted hair. A separate machine is used to cool the skin to help lessen the sensation of the laser. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients describe the sensation of a "rubber band snap." No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some patients may prefer a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Treatment time is dependent on the size of the area and may take as little as 4-5 treatments to obtain desired results. At Solutions Skincare and Laser Center, an area is considered fully treated after 8 treatments and any treatment on that area will be at no charge up to one year after the eighth treatment.

Will There Be any Down Time?
Immediately following the treatment, a healing serum is applied and the area may appear slightly red. Between treatments, you may not wax or tweeze, but it is acceptable to shave the treated area. You may also return to normal activities right away. It is recommended to use a high SPF (30 or above) on the treated areas. It is also a good idea to limit sun exposure to the area before and after treatment.

How do Laser Treatments Compare to Other Methods?
Shaving, waxing, tweezing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. Some claim that repeated and continuous waxing provides a permanent solution; however, this only damages the follicle, whereas the laser actually destroys it.
