Traditional hair removal techniques of the past such as shaving, tweezing, waxing, electrolysis and depilatory creams generally provide only temporary relief and can be very irritating to the skin. Laser hair removal and pulsed light systems have become the modern gold standard technique for hair removal.

Lasers emit a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the pigment in the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle and root leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. This procedure then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair. Because hair grows in cycles, a minimum of three to four treatments will be necessary, as the process is most effective on hair during the early growth cycle.
